Stepping Into Therapy
Beginning therapy can be an intimidating step.
Sometimes it can be hard to fully identify what is going on in our lives, but we have some internal recognition that something just isn’t right. Perhaps you feel stuck during a major life transition, like graduating from college and feeling unsure how to make big decisions about what’s next. Maybe you feel dissatisfied with your current friendships or partner. Or perhaps feeling unworthy or unloved in those relationships. You could feel directionless in your job.
You may just know that you want something different and you are unsure of how to make a change. Together we will create a space to reflect on what you’re feeling and to clarify goals to a path forward.
We’ll begin to recognize patterns in your life and connect them to a place of origin.
You might notice overly-accommodating, people-pleasing, avoid conflict at all costs. Or perhaps you’ve lost valuable relationships or job opportunities due to difficulty managing your feelings or expressing your needs.
We’ll work together to understand how these learned survival skills may have served you in the past and how to make adjustments to better meet your needs now.
We will use insights gained to build a life of meaning.
We are each individuals with individual needs and desires. It’s important to make sure the life that we are living is in tune with our core values, those deeply held ideals that give meaning to our lives. Holding a non-judgmental and validating space, we will try to give you what you need in order to live deeply.
Therapy Services
Tame Anxiety
Fear and uncertainty are common human experiences, but when they begin to interfere with your daily life and make your world smaller, it is worth addressing them in therapy. We can work together to learn techniques to help you tolerate these feelings and resolve your underlying fears in order to allow you to more fully re-engage in a meaningful life.
Rise Above Depression
Feelings of loneliness, guilt, and hopelessness are difficult to bear. I will support you in learning to balance both acceptance and change strategies to cope with your physical and emotional symptoms of depression. We will also work to understand how your negative core beliefs and past experiences contribute to your depressed mood and heal from them.
Trauma & Resilience
Group Therapy
Places of openness and belonging are difficult to find. Group therapy provides a unique space to connect to and learn from others with shared experiences. It can also be a safe space to practice newly learned skills and insights in real time. Exploring one’s true self and feelings, as awakened by group dynamics, can have a powerful impact on personal growth.
Let’s work together to on what matters most to you.
